Notes of Acceptance will be delivered shortly after the submission deadlines ~ April 2018


In particular, we are looking for topics in, but not limited to, the following domains:

  • Wired and wireless network security
  • Mobile communication security
  • Forensics and anti-forensics
  • Digital privacy and anonymous communication
  • Reverse engineering of software and hardware
  • Advanced Exploitation (Bypassing all the security measures)
  • Malware collection and analysis
  • Botnet analysis
  • BIOS level rootkits
  • Covert communication channels
  • Electronic voting
  • Industrial espionage
  • Industrial control system security / SCADA
  • Security metrics and visualization
  • Intrusion detection and prevention
  • Cloud computing security
  • Cryptography and security protocols
  • Biometric system security
  • Quantitative and model based IT risk management

Submissions from academic and scientific institutions are welcome.

Presentation Format

We are seeking two different formats of presentations around current IT security topics.
  • Regular track: 50 minutes presentation (incl. Q&A) in English
  • Rookie track: 25 minutes presentation in English. This format is for new research talents, e.g. students, that have no or little experience in presenting, but would like to try it. We will provide a mentor that can help you prepare the materials and guide you in creating the slides & flow for your presentation.

Speaker benefits

We offer the following benefits to accepted speakers at Area41 2018.
All benefits, except the conference ticket, are only given to one (1) speaker per slot.

For regular & rookie speakers:
  • Free admission for the two conference days
  • Invitation to the complimentary speaker's dinner
For regular speakers only:
  • Paid accommodation for *two nights* at the speaker hotels. Additional nights need to be purchased individually.
  • Reimbursement of travel expenses in economy class up to USD 500 (Europe) and USD 1500 (Intercontinental).
